The Emergency Veterinary Technician role is onsite in Hickory, NC, with pay of $18–$26 per hour. Carolina Animal Specialty and Emergency Hospital is growing its Emergency and Critical Care team and works alongside surgery and specialty teams. The technician provides hands-on nursing care for emergency, critical-care, and hospitalized patients and assists veterinarians with treatment, stabilization, and procedures. The role supports timely patient monitoring and coordinated care in a fast-paced emergency and specialty hospital.
What you'll do
- Provide nursing care for emergency, critical-care, and hospitalized patients
- assist with exams, treatments, procedures, and stabilization
- perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, medication administration, fluid therapy, and diagnostics
- monitor vital signs, pain, sedation, and treatment response
- assist with radiology, anesthesia, wound care, oxygen therapy, surgery preparation, CPR, and emergency response
- maintain records and communicate patient updates
- support clients and collaborate with specialty teams.

Why this role
Full-time openings include 12-hour day shifts from 6 a.m.–6 p.m. or 8 a.m.–8 p.m., and an evening shift from 2 p.m.–2 a.m. Registered Veterinary Technician credential and RECOVER CPR certification are preferred; experienced veterinary assistants are also encouraged to apply.
