Medical Assistant

Job overview

The Medical Assistant role is onsite in Tampa, FL. Compensation is $17 per hour. The position supports patient care and clinic operations at Suncoast Community Health Centers. The assistant helps healthcare providers deliver patient visits by collecting clinical information, assisting with exams and procedures, maintaining records and examination spaces, and coordinating appointments and follow-up. The role also supports infection control and administrative workflows across the centers.

What you'll do

• Take and record patient vitals and medical histories
• assist providers during exams, procedures, and treatments
• collect lab specimens and perform basic lab tests
• administer injections, vaccines, and prescribed medications under provider supervision when competency requirements are met
• prepare and maintain examination rooms
• assist with minor surgeries, EKGs, and vision checks as needed
• provide patient education
• schedule appointments, follow-ups, and referrals
• handle patient inquiries and check-in/check-out
• maintain electronic health records
• support insurance verification, billing, and coding as required
• follow infection-control policies and maintain supplies and equipment
• protect patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines
• conduct daily chart audits
• travel to various center locations as required.

Why this role

High school diploma or equivalent, Medical Assistant diploma, and Medical Assistant transcripts are required; BLS is required within three months. Medical Assistant certification or registration is preferred. Travel to various center locations is required as needed.
