The Welder I (2nd Shift) is an onsite role based in Lockport, IL, with a pay range of $26.00 to $28.00 per hour. This position supports the Swgr Fabrication-Direct department at G&W Electric Co, a global leader in engineered electrical power grid solutions. The role exists to set up and operate welding equipment for difficult welding operations on a wide range of metals. The Welder I ensures that subassemblies meet high-strength, pressure, and aesthetic requirements while maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
What you'll do
- Set up and operate welding equipment
- assemble and tack weld complicated subassemblies
- use torch or grinding equipment
- regulate gas, current, and voltage
- perform Mig/Tig welding
- perform preventive maintenance
- inspect work
- document production.
