The Hospital Collector – Denials & Appeals is a hybrid role in West Houston, TX, paying $20–$25 per hour. The position supports a healthcare organization’s revenue cycle work, and the team handles hospital accounts across multiple facility service lines. The collector investigates complex hospital billing denials and recoupments from initial review through appeal and resolution. By preparing appeals, following up with commercial payers, and documenting account activity in Epic, the role helps resolve outstanding claims and identify recurring denial trends.

What you'll do

• Work approximately 25 or more hospital accounts per day
• research and resolve UB-04 denials and recoupments
• investigate authorization, coordination of benefits, timely filing, medical-record, and other technical denials
• review account history and determine next steps
• prepare and submit payer appeals with supporting documentation
• follow up with commercial insurance carriers
• monitor appeal status and deadlines
• document actions and responses in Epic
• prioritize accounts by value, aging, and department needs
• communicate recurring denial trends.
