Mechanical Technician 3 — Hydraulic Cylinders & Structural Testing

The Mechanical Technician 3 role is onsite in Redondo Beach, CA. Compensation is not specified. The position supports the Structural Test Department’s work on hydraulic cylinders and structural load and pressure testing of flight and development hardware. The technician assembles, operates, and maintains hydraulic systems and structural test equipment, instruments test articles, and records test results. The work helps the department execute testing safely and according to written procedures, with support across test labs, high bays, and cleanroom environments as required.

What you'll do

• Assemble, plumb, and operate hydraulic power units and related systems
• install, align, bleed, and maintain hydraulic cylinders and actuators
• set up and operate structural test equipment
• instrument test articles with strain gauges, load cells, LVDTs, and transducers
• run closed-loop force and displacement tests
• monitor and record test data
• perform pressure and proof tests
• conduct leak checks and mechanical repairs
• operate lifting equipment
• document test setup and results
• follow PPE, barriers, and lockout/tagout safety controls.
