What you'll do

• Examine damaged vehicles to assess structural, body, mechanical, or interior damage
• estimate labor and parts costs
• review estimates with the body shop manager or foreman
• arrange another appraisal if there is disagreement
• assess repair versus replacement and repair versus vehicle market value
• determine salvage value for total losses
• prepare insurance forms
• estimate repainting, conversion, or customization costs.
