The Dementia Care Companion role is based at the Middletown YMCA in Middletown, OH. The posting lists pay of $15–$18 per hour. Family Support Care is implementing the KumZ Dementia Caregiver Relief Program, a Butler County pilot focused on community-based, person-centered respite care. The aide provides safe supervision and meaningful engagement for people living with dementia, supporting movement activities, individualized care plans, and a predictable respite program. The role also contributes to client safety and communication with families and the care team.

What you'll do

• Support people with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias
• assist with exercise and movement activities such as yoga, dance, and boxercise
• maintain records of client progress, incidents, and daily activities
• communicate with supervisors, team members, and family members
• follow individualized support plans
• use de-escalation and positive reinforcement
• assist with restroom use as needed
• and participate in team meetings, debriefings, setup, and cleanup.
