Phlebotomist

The Phlebotomist role is onsite in Murphy, NC. Compensation is $17–$22 per hour. The position is part of the Clinical Services team at Appalachian Mountain Community Health Centers. The phlebotomist obtains and prepares blood specimens for laboratory analysis while supporting patient safety and comfort. The role also handles waived testing and clinic administration, including patient check-in, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and maintaining accurate electronic health records.

What you'll do

• Perform venipunctures and prepare specimens for transport to the reference lab
• conduct waived testing
• maintain a clean work area and follow infection-control and safety procedures
• document patient data in electronic health records
• take patient calls and follow up as appropriate
• schedule appointments, verify insurance, check patients in and out, and assess charges and collect fees.

Why this role

Requires Certified Phlebotomy Technician certification, a high school diploma or equivalent, and 1–2 years of phlebotomy experience in a hospital or clinic. Some travel within western North Carolina is required.
