What you'll do

• Verify patient information and medical history, take vital signs, and confirm visit purpose
• assist providers during examinations
• prepare specimens and perform basic onsite laboratory tests
• dispose of contaminated supplies and sterilize instruments
• authorize refills as directed, call prescriptions to pharmacies, remove sutures, and change dressings
• enter patient information into the electronic health record
• update medical records and insurance reports
• answer phones, take dictation, complete insurance forms, schedule follow-up appointments, complete daily records, and return patient calls by the end of the day.
