Assistant Building Systems Technician

Job overview

The Assistant Building Systems Technician role is onsite in New York, NY, with compensation of $22–$30 per hour. The position supports Steiner Studios, a film and television production facility at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Working under the Building Systems Engineer, the technician assists with operating, maintaining, repairing, installing, and commissioning building and site systems. The work helps keep electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems functioning safely and reliably.

What you'll do

• Assist with troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and plumbing system issues
• perform preventive maintenance such as filter changes, sensor calibration, inspections, belt adjustments, lubrication, and cleaning
• assist with HVAC and electrical installation and commissioning
• perform emergency or unscheduled equipment repairs as needed
• follow safety procedures
• complete work orders, service reports, and maintenance logs
• assist with system inspections and communicate with clients and tenants.
