Infection Prevention Specialist

The Infection Prevention Specialist role is onsite in Douglas, WY. Compensation is $80,000–$105,000 per year. The position supports a facility’s infection prevention program and its work to control infections and communicable diseases among patients and personnel. The specialist develops and administers program goals and procedures, monitors infection-related data, and supports investigations and reporting. The role works with clinical and operational teams to identify risks, improve policies, and reduce the spread of infection while supporting regulatory and quality requirements.

What you'll do

• Assist in developing and implementing infection control policies and systems for identifying, reporting, investigating, and controlling infections
• use information systems for data entry, collection, analysis, and reporting
• interpret applicable Wyoming Department of Health, CMS, HIPAA, and CDC information
• enter data into NHSN
• review policies and procedures and recommend revisions
• provide information to committees and managers
• prepare reports and statistical data
• conduct annual risk assessments and develop action plans
• participate in infection control risk assessments and environmental rounds
• maintain the Blood-Borne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan
• investigate outbreaks
• review reportable disease requirements and laboratory results for MDROs
• monitor hand hygiene and precautions and support HAI reduction goals.
