Grinder Operator

Job overview

The Grinder Operator role is onsite in Bridgeville, PA, with rotating 12-hour shifts from 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.; the schedule includes 7 days on/3 days off and 7 nights on/4 days off. Weekend, holiday, and overtime work may be required. Pay is $18.50 per hour. Universal Stainless produces steel products. The operator prepares steel ingots and other material for rolling or reheating by grinding surface impurities and abnormal conditions while removing as little good metal as necessary. The role supports safe, quality-focused production by operating grinders and material-handling equipment, inspecting product, and reporting production or equipment issues.

What you'll do

• Set up and position material
• operate Gantry, Midwest, and Tysman grinders, forklifts, and cranes as needed
• change grinding wheels
• condition material to work orders
• inspect product and report nonconforming material
• report production and equipment concerns
• maintain a clean and safe work area.
