Job overview
The Civil/Structural Engineering Intern role is based in Rosemount, MN, with work across office, plant, and field environments and occasional visits to active plant and field locations. The intern participates in Wells’ Engineering Development Program, gaining exposure to quality control, field services, engineering design, precast manufacturing, and construction operations. Through rotations and hands-on assignments, the intern develops technical skills and explores a long-term engineering path. The work supports quality, safe field execution, and structural design of precast products while contributing to manufacturing and construction outcomes.
What you'll do
- Shadow quality-control technicians and support plant inspections
- assist with concrete testing, pre-pour inspections, sample evaluation, and quality documentation
- learn production tracking systems
- support root-cause analysis and continuous improvement
- shadow field supervisors and assist with layout and jobsite coordination
- interpret blueprints and communicate work plans
- assist with survey and layout equipment
- coordinate with dispatch on scheduling and logistics
- support reporting and progress updates
- work with design engineers on precast product design.
