Equipment Operator, Underground Utilities

Job overview

The Equipment Operator role is onsite in Des Moines, IA, with compensation of $25–$29 per hour. TD&I Cable Maintenance performs underground utility construction and cable maintenance work. The operator runs underground utility equipment and works with the Foreman and crew to identify hazards and follow safe excavation practices. The role supports project work around existing underground utilities and may fill in for the Foreman when needed.

What you'll do

• Operate and maintain underground utility equipment, including horizontal directional drills, vibratory plows, excavators, and skid steers
• identify underground utilities and locate markings
• follow OSHA excavation practices
• work with the Foreman and crew on job-site hazards
• interpret design prints, locate tickets, and permits
• assist with commercial vehicle and trailer combinations when qualified and meet applicable DOT/CDL requirements.
