The Kitchen Assistant — School Meals role is onsite in Henrico, VA. Compensation is not specified. The position supports meal preparation and service for Rise Academy students and staff. Rise Academy is an accredited Christian high school serving students in Richmond’s East End and aims to help students flourish through learning opportunities. Working with the School Chef and designated staff, the assistant helps prepare and serve meals while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe kitchen and cafeteria. Careful food handling and attention to allergies and dietary restrictions support reliable meal service for the school community.

What you'll do

• Assist with daily food preparation and meal setup under the School Chef’s direction
• serve breakfast, lunch, snacks, and other assigned food
• portion and distribute meals
• prepare serving areas and clean and sanitize them after service
• wash dishes, utensils, cookware, trays, and equipment
• clean kitchen surfaces and cafeteria areas
• sweep, mop, and remove trash
• receive, organize, and store food and supplies
• monitor supplies and notify the School Chef when replenishment is needed
• follow food-handling, sanitation, health, and safety procedures
• store food and monitor temperatures as required
• follow student allergy and dietary-restriction procedures
• assist with school events when scheduled during regular work hours.

Why this role

Part-time schedule is Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–2:00 PM, approximately 25 hours per week, generally following the school calendar. Food-service experience is preferred but not required; high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
