The Senior Fiber Optics Field Technician role is onsite in Grantsville, MD. Compensation is $25–$28 per hour. The role builds and maintains fiber networks that help keep homes, businesses, and industries connected. The technician installs, tests, and troubleshoots fiber optic infrastructure, including work on live fiber and in elevated or confined environments. The senior role also leads, mentors, and trains field staff and crews while supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality network work.

What you'll do

• Safely work in communications and energized spaces
• participate in pole climbing and bucket-truck work
• lead cable stripping, cleaving, terminating, and testing
• operate and calibrate fiber equipment including splicers and OTDR
• perform ring cuts on live fiber
• troubleshoot and repair fiber equipment
• complete records, billing, and inventory documentation
• generate trace reports and splice engineering package files
• calculate attenuation budgets
• lead, mentor, and train field staff and crews.

Why this role

Five or more years of relevant fiber optics experience preferred. Requires a valid driver’s license, Underground Miner Card, Flagger Certification, and proficiency with listed equipment including ladders, bucket trucks, and small equipment. Work may involve heights up to 60 feet, outdoor and underground conditions, and lifting up to 65 pounds.
