Orchestra Librarian

Job overview

The Orchestra Librarian role is remote during the off-season and prep period, then onsite in Charleston, SC during the Festival period. The annual salary equivalent is $15,000. The role supports Spoleto Festival USA’s Producing department and its orchestra programs for the performing arts festival. The librarian prepares and distributes orchestral materials so rehearsals and performances can run smoothly. The role coordinates with the Producing Office, Orchestra Manager, Music Director, conductors, and composers, and provides on-site library support during the Festival.

What you'll do

• Purchase, rent, and prepare orchestral parts
• bow parts, mark cuts, prepare page turns, and add notations in collaboration with conductors
• scan and organize parts for advance distribution
• create and distribute score copies
• support Festival rehearsals and staff the Orchestra Library
• assist with hiring, training, and supervising the Orchestra Library Apprentice
• communicate with the Producing Office and Orchestra leadership.
