Director of People and Culture

Job overview

The Director of People and Culture role is hybrid, with time divided between Chimp Haven’s sanctuary and a local home office in the Shreveport/Bossier City area. Compensation is not specified. Chimp Haven provides personalized care for nearly 300 chimpanzees at its sanctuary in northwest Louisiana. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the director develops and implements human resources strategies, systems, and policies aligned with organizational goals. The role leads culture, performance, compensation, compliance, occupational safety, and staff development initiatives that support the sanctuary’s mission and workforce.

What you'll do

• Develop culture initiatives and recruitment strategy for animal-care positions
• partner with senior leaders on core values and organizational change
• implement performance management and training
• facilitate employee relations conversations
• develop compensation programs with the CEO and CFO
• oversee employment compliance and occupational health and safety
• manage the departmental budget
• support payroll, benefits, and HR processes.
