The Assistant Director role is onsite in Henrico, VA. The stated salary range is $45,000–$50,000 per year. The role supports River Road Early Learning Center’s children, families, and staff. Working with the Executive Director, the Assistant Director helps manage daily operations and maintain a safe, nurturing learning environment. The role supports teachers with curriculum, classroom practice, staff development, family communication, and compliance, and serves as acting administrator when the Director is unavailable.

What you'll do

• Support daily operations and administrative responsibilities
• guide and support teachers and classroom assistants
• assist with lesson planning, curriculum development, classroom organization, and age-appropriate instruction
• support consistent expectations and positive behavior strategies
• observe classrooms and provide constructive feedback
• assist with classroom supervision, instruction, and staff coverage
• build relationships and communicate with families
• assist with scheduling, training, onboarding, and professional development
• help organize programs and events
• assist with licensing requirements and compliance
• support health, safety, emergency preparedness, arrival, dismissal, and supervision
• maintain confidentiality
• serve as acting administrator when the Director is unavailable.

Why this role
