The Hospital Charge Nurse role is onsite in Hutchinson, Kansas. Compensation is not specified. The nurse leads a small inpatient hospital unit and supports safe, high-quality patient care and continuous registered nurse coverage across a 24/7 schedule. This working charge nurse provides direct care while leading unit operations and supervising the RN and CNA team. The role coordinates staffing, supports staff readiness and patient safety, and contributes to care coordination and discharge planning; it also participates in the unit's on-call coverage rotation as a last-resort backstop for unfilled RN shifts.

What you'll do

• Lead day-to-day inpatient unit operations and adjust staffing as needed
• provide direct patient care
• supervise, schedule, coach, and support RN and CNA staff
• participate in the defined on-call rotation for unfilled RN shifts
• coordinate orientation and competencies
• serve as dietary services regulatory liaison
• support quality, patient safety, infection prevention, and regulatory readiness
• coordinate care and communication with providers, patients, and families
• participate in hiring with HR and the CNO
• and escalate clinical, staffing, and operational concerns.

Why this role

ADN and current Kansas RN license are required; BSN is preferred. Requires 3–5 years of nursing experience, including at least 2 years in a pre-op or hospital floor setting, and BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications. Evening or weekend shifts may be required.
