Job overview

The Community Engagement Specialist – DOC role is based in Torrington, CT, with extensive travel within the service area; compensation starts at $24 per hour. McCall Behavioral Health Network provides behavioral health, recovery support, and community engagement services across Western Connecticut. The specialist supports people with substance use disorders returning from incarceration by providing outreach, recovery coaching, case management, overdose prevention, and connections to treatment and community resources.

What you'll do

  • Conduct pre-release in-reach and post-release outreach
  • provide case management, recovery coaching, and overdose follow-ups
  • develop relationships with referral sources and reentry partners
  • help individuals connect to harm reduction, medication-based treatment, behavioral health care, support groups, and social services
  • complete at least 25 case contacts and five community outreaches weekly
  • make referrals and help address access barriers
  • provide syringe exchange and Narcan training
  • plan community engagement activities
  • and share program updates with partners.
