The Shelter Worker, Overnight role is onsite in Minneapolis, MN. Compensation is $20–$21.50 per hour. Agate Housing and Services works to end homelessness and relieve hunger through emergency services, shelter, and housing programs. As part of the Outreach and Shelter Department, the Shelter Advocate helps maintain safe, consistent shelter operations and connects guests with information, referrals, and service navigation. The role supports guests’ efforts to stabilize housing and work toward self-sufficiency.

What you'll do

• Support safe shelter operations
• build rapport with guests
• answer calls and monitor entrances
• conduct rounds and guest intakes
• respond to conflicts using de-escalation and crisis response skills
• monitor security footage and document incidents
• support meal service, cleaning, laundry, and administrative tasks
• maintain shelter records and data
• and provide information, referrals, and service navigation.

Why this role

Overnight shifts are scheduled as 9:30 p.m.–7:30 a.m. or 10:30 p.m.–8:30 a.m., depending on assignment. Full-time employees must take 1–4 standby shifts per month and may be required to report to a shelter if covering an absence.
