Machine Shop Operator

Job overview

The Machine Shop Operator role is onsite in Chesapeake, Virginia. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; compensation is $17.50 per hour. The position supports machine-shop production and assembly operations. The role prepares and operates simple manual and semiautomatic equipment to process, assemble, inspect, and stage components. It contributes to production quality and lead times by following work orders and shop procedures, documenting production and quality activity, maintaining equipment and work areas, and supporting material movement and shop upkeep.

What you'll do

• Set up and operate equipment for deburring, washing, preserving, engraving, and packaging components
• assemble simple subassemblies
• read factory orders and shop schedules
• inspect dimensions with basic measuring devices
• complete setup sheets and production and quality logs
• operate simple equipment including bandsaws and presses
• load and unload parts under CNC machinist supervision
• move and stage inventory and materials
• operate cranes, pallet jacks, and forklifts
• clean and perform light maintenance on assigned machinery
• follow safety and regulatory procedures.
