What you'll do

• Review investigative reports and determine jurisdiction
• determine the need for and extent of postmortem examinations
• direct assistants preparing bodies and documenting examinations
• perform autopsies, collect specimens, and conduct microscopic analysis when appropriate
• determine cause and manner of death
• complete reports promptly
• review literature as needed
• provide expert testimony and consult with attorneys
• teach medical students, residents, fellows, and law enforcement personnel.
