Billing Stay Specialist

The Billing Stay Specialist role is primarily office-based in Portland, OR, with occasional travel between House locations and community event sites potentially required. Compensation is $24.50 per hour. The role supports Ronald McDonald House Oregon’s mission of keeping families close to their hospitalized children. The specialist manages third-party reimbursement for family stays across the organization’s Houses. By verifying eligibility, securing authorizations, submitting and following up on claims, and reconciling payments, the role helps ensure eligible stays are documented, compliant, and reimbursed.

What you'll do

• Verify Medicaid, OHP, managed care, and private insurance coverage
• obtain lodging and travel authorizations
• gather stay documentation and submit accurate claims and invoices
• monitor receivables and follow up on unpaid or denied claims
• correct and appeal claims
• reconcile payments to the appropriate House
• maintain billing records and reports
• follow payer rules and HIPAA requirements
• coordinate with Guest Services, Family Placement, and hospital social workers.
