The role coordinates and initiates perioperative and intraoperative care, advocates for patient safety, and supports the surgical team in sterile and non-sterile settings. It contributes to safe procedures through patient assessment, medication administration, preparation of the operating suite, and postoperative monitoring and handoffs.

What you'll do

• Assess patients preoperatively, including vital signs
• administer ordered eye medications aseptically
• coordinate operating-suite personnel and verify documentation
• maintain aseptic technique when preparing sterile supplies and equipment
• prepare operating suites and equipment
• handle and package specimens
• apply sterile dressings
• assist the anesthetist during postoperative emergencies
• accompany patients to postoperative care and report to the receiving nurse
• monitor postoperative vital signs, consciousness, and reactions to anesthesia and medications.
