Burke & Herbert Bank & Trust’s credit function evaluates commercial loan requests to help management assess credit risk. The underwriter independently analyzes Commercial & Industrial and Commercial Real Estate transactions, identifying strengths, weaknesses, repayment capacity, and risk factors. The work supports sound lending decisions and ongoing monitoring of the loan portfolio.

What you'll do

• Prepare credit analyses and recommendations
• analyze property operations, borrower cash flow, repayment sources, financial statements, tax returns, and third-party reports
• conduct stress and sensitivity analyses
• assign risk ratings
• monitor covenants and borrower performance
• assist with loan presentations and annual reviews
• mentor underwriting team members
• attend client meetings as appropriate.
