What you'll do

  • Performs duties directly involved with a variety of CAT Scan procedures.
  • Prioritizes the patient as number one, and to put forth the utmost quality as a CT Technologist.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiography Education.
  • Must have ARRT or CRT and State of New Jersey License.
  • Full-Time Nights, 8:30p-7a, at Morris Cancer Center - New Brunswick, NJ, will also have responsibilities at University Hospital and Plum St.
  • Imaging Center on the New Brunswick Campus.
  • All three buildings are connected by bridge.
  • Positions patient to obtain study as prescribed by standard operating procedures.
  • Able to position all anatomical parts as indicated by the Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Performs the preparation in order to insure the prompt commencement of the procedure.
  • Ensures all necessary equipment is at hand prior to starting the ordered examination.
  • Under the direction of a Radiologist, instructs and administers cleansing preps and contrast agents.
  • Protects patients and other personnel by administrating proper radiation protection techniques.
  • Protects the reproductive organs with appropriate apparel, if visualization of these areas is not required.
  • Transfers and properly position patients for examinations in order to obtain desired radiographic results according to physician specifications.
  • Assists physicians in performance of examinations.
  • As outlined in radiology policy and procedure and under the direction of the medical chairman the technologist will have proven competency in the administration of IV contrast media, to include venipuncture.
  • Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination.
  • Secures and returns supplies.
  • Maintains room and room’s stock.
  • Responsible for necessary equipment maintenance recommendations and troubleshooting when indicated.
  • Keeps all necessary equipment maintenance logs which pertain to preventative maintenance of Emergency service.
  • Makes sure all necessary supplies are in room and restocks room accordingly.
  • Responsible for patient scheduling and smooth flow of schedule and patient preparation including contrast administration.
  • Responsible for quality control of Cat scan examinations.
  • Uses the computer system according to standard operating procedures: Able to enter studies in RIS and HIS, and track cases.
  • Able to split and fix studies in PACS as necessary.
  • Attends in-service training as required by the department.
  • Able to attend the majority of educational in-services.
  • Explains procedures to the patient and answers any questions prior to the commencement of the procedures.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork/documentation prior to the submitting of the procedure for interpretation.
  • Assists in the instruction of student technologists.
