The Army Conservation Support Specialist role is onsite in Northern Virginia, VA. Compensation is not specified. The position supports the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Environment, Safety and Occupational Health (ODASA(ESOH)). The role exists to provide conservation science, policy, and analytical support so the Army can meet natural-resource obligations and address constraints affecting installations, infrastructure, and training. It serves as a technical liaison and supports conservation, resilience, and compatible land-use work with government and external partners.
What you'll do
- Provide regulatory analysis and technical guidance on the Endangered Species Act, wildland fire management, natural-resource management, and the Readiness and Environmental Protection Integration program
- identify emerging policy requirements, tools, and partnership opportunities
- support the Defined Conservation Commitment framework and its integration into Integrated Natural Resources Management Plans
- support planning and execution of large-scale conservation and resilience projects
- maintain relationships with agencies, NGOs, researchers, and private-sector partners
- convene stakeholders on environmental adaptation, encroachment, and land-use issues.
