Job overview

The Kitchen Steward role is onsite in Salt Lake City, UT, at the central kitchen. The schedule is Monday through Thursday, 6:00 AM–3:00 PM, and Friday, 7:00 AM–11:00 AM. Pay is $16.90 per hour. Utah Community Action’s kitchen work supports nutritious meals for children and families in the community. The steward maintains a clean, safe, and inspection-ready kitchen while supporting food preparation and inventory handling. The role helps kitchen operations run smoothly so meals can be prepared and supplies managed safely.

What you'll do

• Operate, sanitize, and maintain kitchen equipment
• wash dishes, cookware, utensils, and vessels
• sweep and mop kitchen, warehouse, and dishwashing areas
• dispose of waste and recycling and monitor chemical levels
• assist with food preparation as directed
• store food and supplies properly
• load and unload inventory
• report maintenance or safety concerns.

Why this role

Current Food Handler’s Permit required or must be obtained within two weeks of hire; valid driver’s license required, with ability to drive an agency vehicle when needed.
