Applied AI Engineer

Job overview

The Applied AI Engineer role is hybrid, with two days per week in Taylor, TX. The expected salary range is $145,000–$200,000 per year. The role supports ERCOT’s work on solutions for the Texas power grid and wholesale market. This engineer turns business needs into governed, production-ready AI applications. The work includes building agentic systems and retrieval pipelines, integrating enterprise tools and data, and monitoring and evaluating deployed applications so they remain reliable, auditable, and fit for use in a regulated environment.

What you'll do

• Translate business problems into technical roadmaps
• design and build production agentic systems and retrieval-augmented generation pipelines
• develop secure enterprise connectors
• deploy applications on managed cloud platforms
• build evaluation, tracing, and rollback capabilities
• monitor and improve deployed applications
• define system architecture and reusable patterns
• work with business owners.
