The Payroll Specialist — Payroll, Shift 1 is an onsite, full-time role in Bakersfield, CA. The pay range is $25–$30 per hour. Bolthouse Fresh Foods grows, packs, processes, and ships carrots and supplies natural ingredients to the food and beverage industry. Reporting to the Payroll Assistant Manager, the specialist processes weekly payroll for approximately 1,500 employees and supports accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations. The role also handles payroll inquiries and adjustments, maintains controls and records, and coordinates pay-related matters with Human Resources and outside agencies.

What you'll do

• Process weekly payroll and manual checks
• complete payroll tasks accurately and by deadline
• review and update procedures
• validate payroll and tax spreadsheet data
• recommend stronger controls and follow Sarbanes-Oxley procedures
• process accrual corrections, garnishments, tax levies, and wage orders
• coordinate pay-related issues with HR
• set up earnings and deduction codes with ADP
• respond to payroll inquiries
• provide HR and front desk backup as needed.

Why this role

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and three years of progressively responsible payroll experience, or equivalent education and experience. Experience with high-volume, multi-location payroll and automated timekeeping is required; ADP Workforce Now and UKG experience preferred.
