The Machinist role is onsite in Sunnyvale, CA, with compensation of $25–$35 per hour. The position joins an onsite machine shop team and calls for experience with SolidWorks CAM and HAAS CNC machines. The machinist manages programming through cutting, helps develop the shop’s tooling, workholding, organization, and workflow, and works with a junior programmer/machinist on CAM knowledge transfer. The work includes machining graphite or other brittle and abrasive materials and fixturing large flat stock.

What you'll do

• Manage the programming-to-cut cycle, including CAM setup, graphics simulation, air runs, and live troubleshooting.
• Mentor or train a junior programmer/machinist and communicate patiently to transfer knowledge.
• Cut graphite or other brittle and abrasive materials while managing feeds, speeds, tooling selection, and dust.
• Help establish the machine shop through tooling procurement, workholding, organization, and workflow development.
• Fixture large flat stock.
• The posting notes HAAS CNC experience, preference for gantry or vertical mills, and GM-1 familiarity as a plus.
