Job overview
The Government Relations Associate role is hybrid and based in Austin, TX, with required travel to Dallas and Houston as requested or as client needs dictate; additional travel may be needed. Compensation is not specified. The associate supports the government relations practice and works directly with the Managing Director of Government Affairs. The role supports client advocacy through legislative and regulatory research, bill tracking, meeting and hearing participation, and preparation of client materials. It helps keep clients informed, maintains relationships with legislative and agency contacts, and supports the team’s lobbying and client-service work.
What you'll do
- Assist with legislative and regulatory strategies
- meet with legislators, staff, agency officials, and stakeholders
- build relationships with legislative offices and agency personnel
- draft testimony, bill language, amendments, and position statements
- serve as a day-to-day client contact
- prepare legislative updates and client materials
- research policy and political developments
- track bills, amendments, calendars, hearings, and agency meetings
- attend hearings and provide summaries
- maintain lobbying activity records
- support colleagues and business development.
