The Environmental Protection Specialist role is onsite in Seattle, WA, paying $60.00 per hour for 18 hours per week. The opportunity supports the National Park Service’s Pacific West Region through the Experienced Services Program administered by National Experienced Workforce Solutions. Serving as an Environmental Program Advisor and technical advisor, the enrollee provides legal and program expertise on CERCLA and other contaminant releases that may affect National Park Service resources. The work supports compliant response activities, legal research, document preparation, and enforcement and cost-recovery efforts.

What you'll do

• Advise the NPS Pacific West Region on CERCLA and other contaminant releases or threatened releases affecting park resources
• ensure response activities align with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines
• coordinate CERCLA activities and document review
• research and draft legal materials for client and senior attorney review
• prepare information requests and support assigned legal cases
• conduct factual and legal research
• review documents for accuracy and requirements
• prepare legal opinions, memoranda, reports, and program documents
• occasional travel to a Pacific West Region office may be required.
