Corrections Officer

What you'll do

• Maintain security and order
• supervise offenders during housing, work, recreation, religious, and other activities
• escort and transport offenders
• conduct counts, searches, and safety and security inspections
• respond to emergencies and incidents
• use approved procedures to control, detain, or restrain offenders when necessary
• interview involved individuals and prepare incident records
• address minor behavioral concerns and refer serious issues
• support rehabilitation through communication, mentoring, and de-escalation
• perform first-responder and emergency medical support functions when required
• use authorized security equipment and protect confidential criminal justice information
• complete required training and certifications.
