Sports Activity Specialist, Queens Village

Job overview

The Sports Activity Specialist, Queens Village role is onsite in Hollis, NY, Monday through Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., for 9–15 hours per week. Pay is $20–$25 per hour. New York Edge provides after-school and summer camp programs that support student leadership and success in school. The specialist leads age-appropriate sports and physical activity instruction, coaching, and mentorship. The role promotes safe participation, skill development, and positive character development among youth in after-school and day camp programs.

What you'll do

• Motivate students to be active
• prepare structured, age-appropriate lesson plans with clear learning goals
• coordinate program calendars with the Program Director and Center for Sports and Wellness
• encourage participation in organization-wide sports activities
• establish and enforce safety rules
• teach activity principles and techniques
• prepare facilities
• evaluate activities
• adapt instruction to student needs
• support academic hours when expected.
