Working under a Lead Guide or Teacher, the assistant helps create an authentic Montessori learning environment and supports children’s social, physical, and intellectual growth. The role contributes to classroom learning through student support, preparation of materials, supervision, attendance, and recordkeeping.

What you'll do

• Support the Lead Teacher and protect lessons in progress
• encourage student independence and model appropriate behavior
• work with individual children or small groups as directed
• prepare and maintain the Montessori classroom
• take attendance
• provide instruction or serve as a supervised co-teacher
• collect observations and assist with assessments
• supervise students during arrival, lunch, recess, dismissal, and before- and after-care.
