Optician / Optometric Assistant

The Optician / Optometric Assistant role is onsite in San Jose, CA, with a four-day schedule: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Compensation is commensurate with experience. The employer is a boutique private optometry practice. The assistant supports patient visits and practice operations by coordinating appointments and check-in, conducting pre-testing, helping patients select eyewear, and handling vision insurance submissions. The role also assists with frame adjustments and contact lens training, helping patients access and use their prescribed vision care.

What you'll do

• Answer phones and emails
• book appointments
• check patients in and out and pre-test patients
• assist with eyewear selection and purchase based on prescriptions
• submit vision insurance claims electronically
• adjust frames
• provide contact lens insertion and removal training or learn to do so
• use or learn practice equipment and instrumentation
• review vision insurance benefits and authorizations
• perform other administrative tasks as needed.
