The Lead Infrastructure Software Engineer position is onsite in Arlington, VA, requiring at least three to four days in the office. Compensation is $135,000–$273,000 per year. The role supports IDT’s Warfare Systems Business Area, which builds, tests, and deploys the Navy’s next-generation tactical warfare and weapons systems. The engineer leads platform and deployment engineers in developing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code for automated deployment and configuration of a Kubernetes-based enterprise product. The work improves deployment reliability and supports mission-critical software and systems engineering for the U.S. Navy.

What you'll do

• Lead a team developing, implementing, and maintaining Infrastructure as Code
• manage deployment and maintenance of Kubernetes clusters in unclassified and classified environments
• debug and resolve deployment and configuration issues
• guide evaluation of emerging technologies and cloud platforms
• mentor engineers and improve automation
• implement and test software across technology stacks
• develop interfaces across network protocols and messaging frameworks
• integrate software components
• participate in design and code reviews
• use secure coding practices
• support lab and customer-site testing and integration
• support internal deliverables and risk management
• travel up to 10% as needed.
