Field Service Engineer, Medium Voltage — Western Region

The Field Service Engineer, Medium Voltage role is field-based, with a home office in the Las Vegas, NV metropolitan area, and pays $33–$43 per hour depending on level, experience, and qualifications. SMA America develops solar inverter technology and solutions for photovoltaic power systems. The engineer tests, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs medium-voltage systems at customer sites, supporting warranty work and technical escalations. The role contributes to reliable field service through safe work practices, accurate reporting, customer communication, and collaboration with engineering and service teams; regional travel is approximately 80%.

What you'll do

• Perform field testing, inspection, maintenance, and repair of medium-voltage systems
• conduct transformer core testing and DGA sampling
• document test results and service work
• maintain spare-parts inventory, tools, and assigned vehicle
• and, at Level II and above, troubleshoot independently and coordinate with customers and cross-functional teams. Level III duties include crew leadership, report approval, and technician mentoring.
