Job overview

The Special Education Mentor / Transition Teacher role is onsite in Danielson, CT, with services delivered in community-based settings and locally within approximately 30 miles. Pay is $19–$22 per hour. Project Genesis supports students with disabilities as they transition from high school into adulthood. The mentor provides individualized instruction to build academic, vocational, and independent-living skills. The role supports students’ educational, employment, and personal goals, maintains progress notes and IEP portfolios, and works with families, schools, and community partners. The schedule is Monday–Friday during school-day hours, with listed first-shift hours of 7:30 a.m.–3:00/4:00 p.m.

  • Deliver individualized instruction in community-based settings
  • teach communication, problem-solving, budgeting, workplace readiness, and independent-living skills
  • support educational, employment, and personal goals
  • maintain progress notes and IEP portfolios
  • implement positive behavior supports and evidence-based teaching strategies
  • build relationships with students, families, schools, and community partners
  • travel locally to provide services.
