The HVAC Controls/Building Automation Technician role is onsite in Ames, IA, serving Central Iowa, with the employee home daily. Pay is $30–$45 per hour. Mechanical Comfort, Inc. is a Central Iowa commercial mechanical contractor providing HVAC/R, controls, sheet metal, plumbing, scientific-equipment, and planned-maintenance services. The technician installs, programs, commissions, and troubleshoots building automation systems while applying HVAC and mechanical knowledge. The role helps ensure controls operate as intended, documents field changes, and coordinates with service technicians, electricians, project teams, and customers.

What you'll do

• Install and terminate BAS wiring and field devices
• program and configure controllers and control sequences
• commission building-automation systems
• troubleshoot sensors, actuators, controllers, and integrations
• diagnose HVAC and controls problems
• interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and controls documentation
• support panel and network setup
• verify system operation against intended sequences
• document programming and field changes
• coordinate with HVAC service technicians, electricians, and project teams
• communicate findings to customers
• continue technical development on the Siemens platform.
