What you'll do

• Prepare the surgery area and supplies for scheduled cases
• transport and position patients safely
• assist the anesthetist with blood pressure cuff application and infusions
• assist the scrub nurse and surgeon as needed
• count sponges and maintain written records
• keep the room clean
• prepare and wrap supplies
• prepare for subsequent cases
• check the recovery room and stretcher
• prepare and label pathology specimens
• provide in-service training as requested
• take rotating night and weekend call
• assist in other areas when not needed in the operating room.
