Sawmill Machine Operator – 2nd Shift

The Sawmill Machine Operator works onsite in Shreveport, LA, on the sawmill production floor. Compensation is not specified. Plain Dealing Lumber produces lumber from logs in a high-hazard manufacturing environment. The operator safely runs and monitors assigned sawmill equipment to produce lumber that meets production schedules and customer specifications. The role supports safe, continuous production by monitoring quality and equipment, coordinating material flow, recording production, and reporting issues promptly.

What you'll do

• Operate assigned sawmill positions safely and at required production pace
• make edging, trimming, sorting, stacking, and material-flow decisions
• monitor lumber quality and equipment performance
• complete pre-shift equipment checks
• coordinate with adjacent operators
• maintain production tallies, sort records, and shift logs
• follow lockout/tagout procedures
• maintain a clean work area
• report safety, quality, and equipment issues.
