Senior HVAC Service Technician

Job overview

The Senior HVAC Service Technician role is onsite in Fairfax, VA. Compensation is $37–$60 per hour. The position supports Hoffman Mechanical Solutions' work to provide HVAC solutions through design and customer service. The technician leads complex commercial and industrial service work, resolves difficult equipment issues, and provides technical guidance to less-experienced technicians. The role contributes to customer satisfaction and system reliability through diagnostics, repairs, preventative maintenance, and clear recommendations.

What you'll do

• Lead complex commercial and industrial HVAC service calls
• service HVAC products and equipment
• interpret blueprints, manuals, engineering specifications, and control schematics
• diagnose and repair systems at customer locations
• mentor and guide junior and mid-level technicians
• survey sites and report deficiencies and upgrade opportunities
• perform and oversee preventative maintenance, site surveys, replacements, and modifications
• plan installations and repairs
• develop root-cause action plans
• identify and obtain replacement parts
• communicate findings and recommendations to customers
• document work and review junior staff documentation
• maintain a company vehicle
• provide technical support
• contribute to hiring, onboarding, and training
• stay current on codes and technologies
• travel occasionally, including overnight stays
• work overtime and weekends as necessary
• may involve after-hours emergency call-outs.
