The Senior Liability Claims Examiner role is onsite in Utica, NY, with an annual base pay range of $90,000–$115,000. The examiner reports to the Claims Supervisor and handles complex liability claims for Utica First Insurance Company. The role exists to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve liability claims fairly and promptly while following policy provisions, regulatory requirements, and company practices. It also supports sound exposure management, customer service, and, as applicable, mentoring junior claims staff and collaborating with legal counsel.

What you'll do

• Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve liability claims
• evaluate coverage and maintain timely, accurate reserves
• manage vendors
• contact insureds and claimants
• document investigations and claim activity
• respond to correspondence and return calls the same day
• recommend and enter potential exposures for management approval
• make payments within applicable laws and company guidelines
• maintain claim diaries
• communicate with management, insureds, and other parties.
