The Avionics Engineer – Lunar Rovers, All Levels role is onsite in Hawthorne, CA. Pay is $140,000–$230,000 per year. Astrolab designs and builds rovers, power systems, and data networks for sustained lunar operations. The engineer owns avionics units from requirements through qualification, integration, and lunar-surface operations. The role contributes to reliable rover systems by making component and vendor decisions, designing or integrating hardware, conducting analysis and testing, and resolving subsystem issues.

What you'll do

• Own avionics units across command and data handling, guidance, navigation and control, power, motor control, and communications
• lead make-or-buy decisions and qualify commercial components
• manage vendor requirements, design reviews, schedules, and technical issues
• design hardware and circuit boards where appropriate
• conduct system trades, power and signal analysis, worst-case analysis, and FMECA
• develop and execute qualification tests
• and support vehicle integration, troubleshooting, and failure investigations.
