The Head Start Teacher I role is onsite in Huntington Park, CA, with pay of $24.85–$28.82 per hour and a 40-hour workweek. The position supports the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation’s Head Start Program in Los Angeles County, including its Education Services Component. The teacher plans and delivers developmentally appropriate classroom experiences that foster children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth. The role also works with families and the education team to incorporate parent goals, document children’s progress, and support learning across classroom and home settings.

What you'll do

  • Plan and implement daily routines and weekly lesson plans
  • supervise children and maintain a safe classroom
  • assess and document children’s development
  • adapt activities for individual and special needs
  • conduct health checks
  • communicate with parents
  • conduct parent conferences and home visits
  • support parent meetings and education
  • oversee classroom volunteers
  • attend required training and team meetings.

Why this role

Requires at least an associate degree in Early Childhood Education and/or Child Development, current coursework toward a bachelor’s degree, a California Children’s Center Permit or Child Development Teacher Permit, and two years of paid experience working with children ages 0–5. Regular attendance is Monday through Friday.
