The Deputy Head of Contracts & Asset Management is an onsite role based in Washington, DC. , with a range of $72,400 to $222,500 annually, and this position supports the Contracts & Asset Management Group at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). This leadership role exists to partner with the Group Head in overseeing daily operations for a team of approximately 50 professionals. The incumbent will drive strategic initiatives, manage complex contracting portfolios, and foster organizational growth while ensuring compliance and operational excellence.

What you'll do

• Oversee day-to-day operations of a large contracting organization.
• Partner with the Group Head to set strategic priorities and align resources.
• Coach managers and develop high-potential staff.
• Establish performance metrics to improve efficiency.
• Provide expertise on FAR/DFARS and complex contract negotiations.
• Lead process modernization and digital tool adoption.
